While not a short season variety, we were able to get cob production in the record hot summer of 2023 up north. Cobs tasseled more than a month later than other corns, but the plants reached for the sky, to over 10 feet high. An excellent trellis for high-climbing pole beans and the most show stopping corn we’ve ever grown. A family heirloom, original seed came from grower Rodrigo (via the Experimental Farm Network), who shares that it is a multipurpose corn that can be harvested for fresh eating (a traditional Mexican delicacy, tender, tasty, not sweet or mealy), or grown to full maturity and dried and milled for tortilla flour. Rodrigo describes the flavor as "top-notch".
